About Teachers Warehouse
Teachers Warehouse is a retail school supply store that does not have a cash register. The store was designed to assist teachers by providing basic educational tools to children who do not have the items needed to help them learn. The Bloomington Rotary Club created the project after the Herald Times published a story in 2002 about a similar program operated in Cincinnati.
The store is open to public elementary school teachers in Monroe, Brown, Lawrence and Greene counties.
During the 2012-2013 school year, nearly 400 teachers shopped at Teachers Warehouse, many of whom returned multiple times throughout the school year to pick up additional supplies.
What You Can Do to Help
There are three ways you can help:
1. Teachers Warehouse accepts donations of cash and new or gently used school supplies from individuals, businesses or organizations. The following supplies are in high demand:
- Metric rulers
- Composition notebooks
- Pink erasers
Donations are accepted July 25-29, 2-6p and July 30, 9a-1p.
2. Cash contributions are always welcome and help Teachers Warehouse purchase supplies and pay operating costs.
3. Volunteers help collect and sort donations, greet teachers during open hours, and help with other tasks, while having fun and meeting interesting people.
Contact Teachers Warehouse to learn more or find out how you can participate in this worthy cause.
