What is Rotary?

Rotary is a service organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians in over 34,000 clubs located in over 200 countries.

Rotarians volunteer their efforts to improve the quality of life in their own communities and beyond their communities' borders. Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, non-religious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. Club membership represents a cross-section of local business and professional leaders.

Rotarians initiate community projects that address many of today's most critical issues, including drug abuse, hunger, the environment, and illiteracy. Additionally, Rotary International launched PolioPlus, a 20-year commitment to eradicate polio, an initiative that the Bloomington Rotary Club actively supports. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.
